This exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the legacy of resilience within the Jewish people, and the sacred responsibility we share to continue telling these stories. In doing so, we preserve not only the memory of the past, but the enduring beauty and depth of Jewish heritage, tradition, and culture.
Their stories live on - in sunlight, in skin, in tradition, and in art.
This powerful and intimate exhibition presents a striking series of photographs of Holocaust survivors - proud, vulnerable, and radiant - in bathing suits and basking in the sunshine. Set against the backdrop of serene beaches, summer light, and quiet smiles, these portraits challenge us to see beyond the familiar images of suffering and loss, and instead honor the full spectrum of life that survived.
Each photograph is a testament to the unbreakable human spirit. These men and women, once crammed into cattle cars, hidden in forests, starved in ghettos, or imprisoned in death camps, now bask in the sun with dignity. Their bodies bear the memory of unspeakable horrors, but their presence here is an act of defiance, a celebration, and an offering.
Through this art, we bear witness not only to survival, but to life reclaimed. We are reminded that every survivor is more than a symbol of trauma - they are individuals with humor, joy, love, sensuality, and stories that stretch beyond the pain. These images demand we see them as they are: whole.

We aim to feature the Holocaust survival stories and family photographs of 10–20 individuals, celebrating the extraordinary lives they went on to lead.
If selected to participate, you grant artist Kenny Zablotsky of Jewish Joy LLC permission to use your family photograph to create an embellished portrait.
In addition to the photo, we invite you to share a written biography of your family member, highlighting meaningful moments of survival and resilience, as well as proud life achievements.
All proceeds from event ticket sales and print media associated with this initiative will be donated to Holocaust education institutions.
In appreciation for your participation and for allowing us to share your family’s story, you will receive a complimentary print of the mosaic portrait created by artist Kenny Zablotsky, with the opportunity to purchase the original art panel once museum and gallery exhibitions have concluded.
We plan to debut the photographic showcase in Miami, Florida during Art Basel in December 2026. We are currently in conversation with several Jewish institutions and will share additional details as they become available.
Get in touch with us if you have any questions, feedback, or suggestions.
